LAHORE  - The health state of Begum Kalsoom Nawaz is still precarious and critical at Harley Street Clinic London.

The Sharif family had a meeting with her doctors after which they decided to  keep Kalsoom on ventilator for an indefinite period of time.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not talk to media after he came out of the meeting. His daughter Maryam Safdar only said that her mother was not well.

Nawaz Sharif’s son Hasan told the media that doctors had advised them to keep his mother on life support for now.

  Earlier, according to media reports, the doctors had termed next 24 hours very crucial due to congealment of blood in lungs and the constant unconsciousness of Begum Kalsoom Nawaz.

The wife of the ex-PM has been on ventilator since Thursday evening when she collapsed due to cardiac arrest and went unconscious, say the reports received here. The doctors have yet not decided to take her off the life support machine due to her unstable condition.

On Monday late afternoon, doctors held meeting with Nawaz Sharif and apprised him about the current health condition of Begum Kalsoom and also her stay on ventilator. Media reports say later on the question of keeping Begum Kalsoom on support machine, Nawaz Sharif held discussion with Maryam Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz. After that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam left for home in London. Before departure when media men outside the Clinic asked about the health state of Begum Kalsoom, Maryam replied: “She was not in good health.”

Spouse of Begum Kalsoom Nawaz, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter, Maryam Nawaz have extended their stay in London as doctors have advised them to spend maximum time with the patient.

They both have been called for appearance by the Accountability Court Islamabad, in the criminal references against them, on Tuesday (today). Earlier they were due to return home on Sunday night through a private airline, but the plan was cancelled due to deteriorating health condition of Begum Kalsoom. A fresh announcement about their comeback is likely to be made in due time. In case Nawaz Sharif and Maryam will not appear before the court today, a plea is likely to be made with the documents, to the trial court for seeking their exemption from appearance.

Sources say that doctors have advised to wait for the improvement in the health condition of Begum Kalsoom and by then, keeping her on the ventilator. As such it has been decided not take Begum Kalsoom off the support machine.

Former Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif is also in London to see his Bhabhi, Kalsoom Nawaz.

Begum Kasloom, 68, has been under treatment for her cancer disease in London since August last. During the course of treatment, she underwent three surgeries of different level and five chemotherapies, the last one on June 8 as her health condition was reported, worsening since April.

While talking to media outside the Clinic in London, Nawaz Sharif said Begum Kalsoom was on ventilator and unconscious. While asking for prayers for early recovery of Begum sahiba, he said, her condition was not stable since he came here (from Pakistan).

Maryam Nawaz Sharif in media talk fell in tears while mentioning details of her visit to the ailing mother at the ICU of Harley Street Clinic. She said Abbu (Nawaz Sharif) and herself called the mother many times but she did not respond. “I avidly want to talk to my mother, but she is unconscious,” Maryam said and fell in tears asking for the prayers for the recovery of her mother. Maryam said waiting for her spouse and daughter to see, the condition of her mother continued to deteriorate. She is on ventilator and still not stable as such no decision has been made by doctors as yet about removing life support machine on her, Maryam told the media about the condition of her mother.

Former Chief Minister Punjab and younger brother of Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, talking to media also asked for praying for his ailing Bhabhi. He said doctors are closely monitoring health condition of his Bhabhi. He wanted Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz to stay in London.

Media reports from London say that a person impersonating himself physician the Clinic, mysteriously tried to enter ICU section where Begum Kalsoom was under treatment. However the security persons deputed at the Clinic got hold of him and turned him out. According to details received here, one Dr Naveed showing his card to the security personnel entered the Clinic. However he was intercepted by the guards and was not allowed to reach Begum Kalsoom when he said, he was there to inquire after her. The guards took him out of the Clinic and let him go on a warning not to be seen around again, reports said quoting the local police sources. Video shoot at the Clinic were also found out from the cell phone of Dr Naveed, the report further said quoting the police sources.

Hussain Nawaz, elder son of Nawaz Sharif, confirming presence and expulsion of a suspected person, told media that such like people are adding to their worries. Hussain did not identity who was that person while Maryam avoided to say anything about him.  

The leaders of political parties also continued to visit the Clinic to inquire after Begum Kalsoom.

 

 

Agencies adds: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated another inquiry against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif over money laundering charges.

According to reports, the accountability watchdog launched an inquiry on complaint of TV journalist Asad Kharal. The journo also recorded his statement before the bureau and submitted relevant record to NAB investigators.

Sharif is currently in London to look after his ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz.

The report cited NAB spokesperson as saying that the complainant provided details how Sharif and his family members allegedly sent money to foreign countries in an illegal way.

Sharif and his family members have been facing similar charges in the references made under the Panama Papers case and being tried in the accountability court in Islamabad.

The fresh complaint said Khaista Khan and Jamshed Khan, Hawala/Hundi dealers from Peshawar, were engaged by the Sharif family to transfer large amounts of funds through their bank accounts.

According to the testimony, the report said, Khaista Khan and Jamshed Khan before NAB, the Sharif family illegally sent funds converted into foreign currencies abroad regularly.

The NAB will investigate the allegations and proceed further if the claims were found bona fide.

The Panama Papers scandal unravelled to the world in April last year with shock and Pakistan was no exception especially when it’s then ruling elite were discovered to have stashed their wealth offshore.

The leaked papers, comprising 11.5 million documents from Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca, exposed how some of the world’s most powerful people have secreted their money offshore, and also implicated Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.

The scandal eventually led Sharif’s ouster from the office and initiation of probe against his family.
