PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakthunkhwa Government has decided to hold a special workshop for selection of a day that would be celebrated as’ Paktoons Day’ throughout the world every year.

Khyber Pakthunkhwa, Information Minister, Mian Iftikhar Hussain while talking to ANP Vice President Kamla Khan Mian Khel said Sunday that renowned saints, academicians, scholars and poets from Pakistan, Afghanistan and others countries would be invited in the workshop to evolve consensus on selection of ‘Pakhtuns Day’. Special functions depicting the culture, civilization, history, art, language and heritage of Pakthun nation would be highlighted on this day, he added.

He said despite rich culture, civilization, history, Pakthuns were not given their due attention in past.

The KP government spokesman said lack of unity among Pakthuns was one the major reasons of its backwardness resulted their dependency on others instead on themselves. He said Pakhtun nation had sacrificed their lives and properties for motherland in line with philosophy of ‘Pakhtun Wali’ and kept alive their culture, tradition and civilization.

“Those forces, who love their culture and art, always keep alive,” he said. The culture of Pakhtuns nation is very rich and excellent, as they love culture, art and civilization.  He said people of Sindh celebrate Sindhi Cap and Ajrak Day every year that reflects their deep love with their culture and civilization. He said Pakhtuns would express joy and solidarity with each other on Pakhtuns Day. On this occasion, ANP Vice President, Kamla Khan Miankhel presented traditional Sindhi Ajrak to the Information Minister.

Meanwhile,  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Excise and Taxation, Liaquat Shabab said on Sunday that the address of President Asif Ali Zardari to the joint sitting of the Parliament was unprecedented in the country’s parliamentary history.

He termed it a success of democracy and reflections of peoples’ aspirations.           “President Asif Ali Zardari address to the parliament on fifth time is historic and balanced in a sense that he announced a clear roadmap for strengthening democracy and Parliament besides tackling various challenges like energy crisis and Balochistan issue,” he said while addressing a public gathering at Nowshera Kalan in Nowshera district after laying the foundation stone of Maulana Abdullah Shah Road that would be completed with an estimated cost of Rs.6.2million

Certainly, the President made a positive and balanced speech which augured well for democracy and federation because it reflected aspirations of the masses, he elaborated.

“President Zardari has boldly highlighted the momentous achievements of the present government, provides a guideline to government for strengthening relationship with regional countries and world powers besides addressing various issues currently facing by Pakistan. The Minister said Asif Ali Zardari was the only President of Pakistan who had returned his powers backed to the parliament.

Political leaders and elites of the city besides government officials of concerned departments were present on this occasion.
