MULTAN - The Food Department will commence wheat procurement in Multan from April 15 and the department has been give a target to purchase 1.99 lac tonnes of wheat from the farmers. Chairing a meeting to review arrangements for wheat procurement operation, the district coordination officer Multan Mudassar Riaz Malik directed concerned officials to form supervisory committee till March 31 so that the procurement drive could be launched on time. “These committees will keep vigil on procurement process and address the complaints of farmers in time,” he added.                                         –Reporter

He asked the assistant commissioners and revenue officers to evolve gurdawri lists of all areas within one week so that arrangements could be made at nearby centres of food department.
Earlier, while briefing the DCO, the EDO agriculture told that 16 procurement centres were established for the drive and arrangements were being finalized at these centres.
