Torture accused flees Pakistan


LAHORE - The PIA flight purser Ijaz Qadeer, who was accused of torturing an office-bearer of his opposite union, has fled the country after getting bail from a court while his co-accused working in Technical Ground Support Section was arrested by police, said sources in the airlines on Sunday.
Sources said that the office-bearer of Peoples Unity of PIA employees was involved in torturing Air League Vice President. Sources claimed that Peoples Unity after winning the election of CBA started a hate campaign against the rival group. According to the Air League official, activists of Unity tortured catering manager Taimoor Kiyani second time during two-month period. Later, they approached Assistant Station Manager Moonis Naqvi, Assistant Station Manager Ishtiaq and Deputy Station Manager Manzoor and harassed them. The Air League Vice President Abid Gujjar was also assaulted and sustained serious injures. The Sarwar Road Police registered a case against the accused but no action was taken immediately.
The office-bearers of Air League forwarded the matter to the Punjab government, on which the police arrested Muzaffar whereas Ijaz managed to escape to London two days back.
