ISLAMABAD - Gilgit/Baltistan finally managed to register first victory in the 8th Regional Inter-District Women (Seniors) Cricket Tournament 2014 as they thrashed Islamabad Blues by 116 runs in their last league round match here at Marghazar Cricket Ground on Tuesday. Batting first, Gilgit/Baltistan managed to score 185-5 in the rain-affected 20-over reduced match. Fazila Akhlaq was the star of the day as she slammed unbeaten 129 runs with the help of four sixes and 19 fours while Diana Baig added 32. In reply, Islamabad Blues were restricted to meager 69-7 in 20 overs. Only Hira and Hina managed to reach double figures as they scored 18 and 12 runs respectively. Shahida, Diana and Arifa took two wickets each conceding 12, 13 and 15 runs respectively.–Staff Reporter
