Eleven people were killed while 62 others were injured in separate road accidents here on Wednesday.

A devotees’ bus turned turtle while taking a sharp turn at Dewan Sahib road causing death of five passengers and injuries of 60 others here in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The bus (FDP -1188) of Mouza Bath was going to Sakhi Sarwar after visiting the shrine of Hazrat Baba Sher Deawan at Mouza Dewan Sahib. Near Chak 321/EB, while taking a sharp turn, it turned turtle. As a result, five people including two women were killed on the spot while more than 60 others sustained injuries.

The deceased were identified as Shahnaz Bibi, Sakina Bibi, Munir Ahmed, Muhammad Tufail and Parvez. The injured passengers included Muhammad Sarfraz, Ahmad Ali, Zahida Parveen, Ishrat Bibi, Muhammad Sajjad, Parveen Bibi, Hamza, Maqboolan Bibi, Shahzad, Naeema Bibi, Zamurad Bibi, Muhammad Saddique, Muhammad Farooq, Muhammad Akram, Asghar Ali, Ghulam Rasool, Kubra Bibi, Khalida Liquat, Bushra Bibi, Haleema Bibi, Muhammad Abbass and Zulfiqar Ali.

The rescue teams soon after the accident reached the spot where Rescue 1122 personals provided medical treatment to the injured. According to the hospital sources, six people are in critical condition. Assistant Commissioner Saifullah Sajid declared state of emergency in the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and all staffer were engaged to provide medical aid to patients. The bus driver fled away after the accident, the local police have impounded the bus and started investigations.

In Sargodha, three persons including a woman were killed and two sustained injures when a wedding car collided with a truck on Faisalabad road in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Police sources said that a speedy car struck a truck near drainage on Faisalabad Road. Resultantly, three persons riding in the car identified as Basit Ali, Suleman and Asia Ibrahim succumbed to injuries while two injured Faisal and Ibrahim rushed to DHQ Hospital. Police added that truck driver fled away from the spot. The deceased were going with a Barat.

In Dera Ghazi Khan, a deadly road accident between a truck and passenger coach took place killing two men and injured two seriously.

According to Rescue 1122, a passenger coach was going to Multan from Jampur city (District Rajanpur) on Indus Highway road near Basti Malana Tehsil Kot Chuttha District DG Khan. Driver of coach could not control the speed and hit the truck coming from the opposite direction.

Two passengers, 45 years old Muhammad Saleem and 50 year old Bashir Ahmed, residents of Jampur city, passed away on the spot while two serious injured passengers were shifted to Teaching Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan. One passenger was rescued on the spot and other passengers of coach suffered from minor injuries.

In Toba Tek Singh, a villager died and his son injured when their motorcycle collided with a pick-up in Kamalia area. Deceased Naik Alam and his son Imran of Chak 247 GB were on Kamalia-Chichawatni road. Near Bhagoana, a speedy pick-up coming from opposite side hit their motorcycle. As a result, Naik Alam died instantly while Imran was shifted to Chichawatni THQ Hospital in critical condition.
