LAHORE - A judicial magistrate granted interim bail on Wednesday to a woman accused of crushing three men to death and leaving 11 others injured while she tried to escape the wrath of angry protestors of Youhanabad at Ferozepur road.

The judge granted bail to the lady, Maryam Safdar, against submission of Rs50,000. Her counsel told the magistrate that the protestors of the Yohannabad incident tried to kill her when she was sitting in her car on Ferozepur road.

“Horror and fear surrounded her and she drove her car in which some of the protestors got injured and media reported that three of them died due to the accident,” the counsel added.

He further pleaded the court to grant Maryam bail and to permit her to join the investigation. The magistrate granted her bail till March 24 with directives for the police to further investigate the matter.

In another case, a Sessions judge on Wednesday acquitted a fashion model of charges of kidnapping another female coworker.

The investigating officer submitted a report before the court and said the suspect was found innocent during the investigation. He said the police would not contest the acquittal of the petitioner.

Abeera’s brother had lodged FIR with Wahdat Colony Police Station against Khaula Alias Sidra Awan of Sargodha for kidnapping her sister and, later on, killing her.

Abeera, a model, was killed in an incident and her body was recovered from a suitcase abandoned at a local bus stand of Sherakot last month.
