PESHAWAR - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Youth Wing Peshawar President Haji Sardar Khan Mohmand was shot dead by unknown assailants on Wednesday.
According to details, unknown motorcyclists opened indiscriminate firing on PML-N Youth Wing Peshawar President Sardar Khan Mohmand son of Noman Khan, resident of Khan Must Colony, when he was leaving home in the morning for an important work.
The incident was occurred in the limits of Yakatoot Police Station, where two target killers gunned down the PML-N youth leader and fled the scene. The PML-N leader sustained severe wounds and locals rushed him to the Lady Reading Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
SSP Operation Dr Mian Saeed suspended SHO Yakatoot Police Station Sajid Mumtaz for not taking timely action against the target killers soon after killing the N-League leader.
Police said they were investigating motives behind the attack. However, some police sources said it appeared to be a target killing case.  Police sources said that Haji Sardar Khan had been targeted two months back, when unknown miscreants had lobbed a hand grenade at his house.
Apart from, the sources said that Sardar Khan has been receiving mobile calls from unknown extortionists and upon not paying and complying, they killed his brother one month back at Hayatabad.
Later, PML-N leader Haji Sardar Khan was laid to rest at Rehman Baba graveyard. Prominent among those who attended in the funeral prayers were PML-N Senior Vice President Ameer Muqam, ANP-W Central General Secretary Farid Tofan, PML-N MPA from Peshawar Arbab Akbar Hayat Khan. The FIR of Sardar’s killing has not been registered till filing of this report.
