Special students have called upon the government to ensure the up-gradation of Special Education Centre Hafizabad to matriculation.
Over 20 special students who passed the middle examination last year have said that they were requesting the authorities for the up-gradation of the school to matriculation but the authorities had failed to do so.
They said that after passing middle examination, they are not in a position to get admission in other cities. They have called upon the government to take pity on them and ensure the up-gradation of the school from the forthcoming academic session.
SUICIDE: A youth of Faisal Town has committed suicide by jumping into the Qadirabad Balloki link feeder.
According to Rescue sources, 30-year-old Muhammad Imran son of Muhammad Akram of Faisal Town was chronic patient of hepatitis. He was too much perturbed due to his prolonged illness. Subsequently, he decided to put an end to his life by jumping into the canal near Head Sagar. His body was recovered by the Rescue-1122 after two hours struggle.
ROBBERY: A citizen was deprived of his motorcycle from outside his residence by unknown bike lifters. Shamoon had parked his bike HZK-964 outside his residence in Defence Colony Hafizabad and went inside and after sometime when he returned he found his bike was missing.
SHOPS: The district administration has set up five fair price shops where all the brands of vegetable ghee are available at Rs15 per kg less than the previous rates according to the announcement of the Punjab government, District Officer Enterprises Kashif Aqeel said. He has warned the dealers of stern action if they were found selling vegetable ghee above the new rates.
Meanwhile, Price Control Magistrates in the district have challaned scores of traders for selling essential commodities above the fixed rates and have collected total fine of Rs431,000 from them during the past three weeks of March. The SPMs have also arrested five profiteers under the Essential Commodities Price Control Act and have registered five separate cases against them. The SPMs have warned the dealers to sell the commodities otherwise strict action would be taken against them. DRIVE: While performing the inauguration of spring tree plantation campaign, DCO Muhammad Usman has highlighted the importance of plants and trees and called upon the masses to ensure plantation of at least one plant each for eliminating the pollution and to make the atmosphere pleasant. He planted a sapling in the district complex Hafizabad. DFO Syed Jawaad told him that 85000 saplings would be planted during the spring tree plantation campaign.
