Tour de Punjab cycle race illegal: PCF secretary

LAHORE
Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) secretary Syed Azhar Ali Shah has termed the 'Tour de Punjab cycle race' being organized from March 22 as 'illegal', saying a rival faction of cycling federation announces from time to time such bogus events to create hurdles in the development of cycling in the country.
"This event is not part of the PCF calendar and we do not recognise it and it is another negative attempt on the part of parallel PCF to create confusion,” he said and added their PCF was the internationally recognized body, duly affiliated with Union Cycle International (UCI) and Asian Cycling Federation (ACC) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), adding they sent the national team abroad to take part in international events on regular basis. "Pakistan team recently participated in the Asian championship held in Thailand.”
 he said.
"All the affiliated units of the PCF including Pakistan Army, SSGC, Wapda, four provinces, Fata and Islamabad are not participating in this fake event,” said Azhar.
"We are updating international and Asian bodies on this issue and we will recommend them to impose ban on rival faction and their officials in larger interest of cycling in Pakistan,” he concluded.
