Warden urges CTO for action against ‘journalists’

Rawalpindi - A traffic warden who was manhandled by two fake journalists has lodged a written complaint with Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) and sought legal action against the violators, sources informed here on Wednesday.
Taking action, CTO Shoaib Khurram Janbaz directed Senior Traffic Officer (STO) to hold inquiry into the matter and submit report.
According to sources, Traffic Warden Waseem Satti (693/CTR) filed a written complaint with CTO stating that on March 13, 2015 he was imparting duty on VVIP route at 4:00pm at TNT Square on The Mall. Following the instructions of the high-ups, the road leading from GPO to The Mall was blocked by placing barriers as Justice Jawad S Khawaja, a senior SC judge, was to arrive Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology for medical check-up.
He added that in the meanwhile two people riding on motorcycle crossed the barrier. He stopped and asked them not to go ahead as VVIP route was in place. He mentioned, “Instead of following my requests, both started shouting and abusing me. As I tried to impound their bike, a man namely Abid Malik, who introduced himself as bureau chief of some news organization, moved forward to beat me. He caught me from my uniform saying you don’t know we are media men and will get you suspended by lodging your complaint with your officers.”
He said that the violators kept him abusing and pushing. “I tolerated all this misbehaviour because I was on VVIP route duty,” he further stated in his application and sought legal action against the violators. The CTO forwarded the case to STO asking him to summon both the parties and hold an inquiry. When contacted, the CTO confirmed the development.
