India spies love for Pakistan

After Shahid Afridi’s ‘diplomatic’ statement about getting more love in India than in Pakistan, the whole cricket world witnessed immense support for Pakistan cricket team in Eden Garden to everyone’s surprise. Even during the national anthem, when the camera spotted Afridi, there was deafening noise in the crowd in his support. An Indian intelligence official said: “We heard about this [support for Pakistan]. We definitely need to find out more about it”.

Injured Sri Lanka paceman Lasith Malinga will fly back home from the World Twenty20 without having played a single match. Malinga's departure is the latest setback for the maverick bowler, having been dropped as skipper after the team's recent disastrous Asia Cup showing in Bangladesh. Sri Lanka team management on tour have observed that Malinga, whose niggling injury has been flaring up, would be better off resting it, and have recommended he return to Colombo.

Ayesh gets selection jackpot

The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 has approved Ayesha Zafar as a replacement player for Javeria Wadood in Pakistan women’s squad for the tournament. Javeria was injured while batting during Pakistan’s opening match against the West Indies in Chennai on Wednesday and has been ruled out of further participation in the tournament.

21-year-old Ayesha is a right-handed top-order batter, who played two T20Is against the West Indies in Grenada late last year.
