WAZIRABAD - The shifting of grain market from the city to Sialkot Road is likely to hit the snags due to the undue interfere of local MNA. Real Estate Manager Muhammad Rafiq Bhutta after taking the brokers into confidence allocated four acres of land for Grain Market on Sialkot Road near Taj Garden and presented his plan to government through Extra Assistant Director Agriculture and Marketing Gujranwala for approval. Proposed Grain Market has facilities of all sorts including open area of 75359 Sq. Ft , site for bank, site for mosque, restaurant, site for office of market committee, meeting hall, 104 shops, filtration plant, sewerage system, water supply and three entrances of 32 ft wide each from three sides. Existing Grain Market is situated in the mid of Town with no basic facilities which choke the life for four months during wheat and paddy season and cause heavy pollution which disturbs the thickly populated residential area around the Grain Market. According to plan in the new proposed market, each recognized broker will be given shops on concession rates while others can get shops on market rate. Local MNA Justice (r) Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema wrote a letter to Secretary Agriculture Punjab that some active persons are going to shift Grain Market to unsuitable place. Proposed site be visited and checked thoroughly and eliminate grievances of the complainants keeping the reservations of the people in view. Director Agriculture and Marketing Punjab has directed Extra Assistant Director Agriculture Gujranwala for submission of revised and final feasibility report observing rules and regulations. It merits mentioning here that all relevant departments already issued NOC for a residential colony many years ago near the proposed Grain Market which is now under construction.
