LAHOREThe Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry has taken serious notice of influence exercised by officers of the high court establishment in the affairs of the district judiciary. The CJ has directed all district and sessions judges and senior civil judges that in future if any officer/official of this Court by misusing his official position, interfered in the process of recruitment or judicial business of the courts of district judiciary, the matter shall be brought immediately into the notice of this Court for further strict action in the matter, says a directive issued by LHC registrar Sohail Nasir on Wednesday. The directive says that it has been repeatedly observed that the officer/officials of the LHC establishment use their influence in the process of recruitment of civil and sessions courts which also some extends to judicial business of the courts of district judiciary. This practice on their part amounts to interfering in the powers of the district and sessions judges and senior civil judges in the province, which also beings a bad name to the institution, it adds. Hearing against Facebook caricature: Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed of Lahore High Court will continue to proceed Thursday (today) with a fresh petition which seeks permanent ban on the access to American social networking website Facebook for it has again planned to hold blasphemous contest titled 2nd Annual Draw Muhammad Day, on May 20, 2011. The petition was filed by Mohammad & Ahmad, a public interest litigation company through its chairman Mohammad Azhar Siddique advocate praying for imposing ban on the facebook before it held blasphemous contest titled 2nd Annual Draw Muhammad Day-May 20, 2011. Earlier, on May 13, in a detailed judgment on identical petitions LHC chief justice Ijaz Ahmed Chauhdry had directed federal government to agitate at platform of United Nations (UN) and Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) the matter of publication/displaying of blasphemous material by a social networking website Facebook and others sites.
