LAHORETwo schedules of load management - one for the elite and other for the poor - ensuring provision of maximum electricity for the former, leaving the latter to endure long hours of scheduled and unscheduled load-shedding, sources informed The Nation. In Lahore, some areas are facing 8-10 hour load-shedding while there is no more than 3 to 4 hours outages for some posh localities, the sources disclosed. According the rightly-placed officials of the Lahore Electric Supply Company, minimum load-shedding is being conducted for Defense Housing Society Grid Station. Some feeders under the grid station, where the residences of the prime minister and other powerful people are located are experiencing no more than 1 to 2 hours load-shedding, they added. New Kot Lakhpat Grid Station, one among the main grid stations of Lahore, is advised to ensure maximum electricity flow for the DHA Grid, they said, adding that the electricity outage for some feeders under the DHA grid was even no more than two hours in a day, the sources said. To keep smooth electricity flow for some DHA feeders, maximum load-shedding is being conducted at the grid stations of Old Kot Lakhpat, WAPDA Town 1 and 2, Wellington Mall. The New Ghazi Grid, under the New Kot Lakhpat Grid, is facing more than 12-hour load-shedding. Even when the PM arrived in Lahore, they (New Kot Lakhpat management) are advised not to touch the DHA Grid and they had to divert the load towards other grids, the observed. The areas where public hospitals are located should be preferred for better electricity facility, But, the sources said, during the VVIP arrivals no care for even Old Kot Lakhpat Grid where three main hospitals are located, was being done. Similarly, Model Town and GOR-1 areas have to face comparatively less electricity load-shedding. When phoned at Band Road Grid Station, the other main grid station of the city, a person seeking anonymity admitted, 'Privileges are being given to some areas. However, he added, the Lesco could not be blamed for the 'unfair electricity distribution. The official said that these are Regional Control Centre (RCC) and National Control Centre, which ordered to distribute electricity in accordance with their own wish. Discos have their own schedule of load shedding, but cannot follow due to the pressure of the RCC, another official of Lesco said. In every meeting we request the RCC official to give us its own schedule for load-shedding but it is not being given. Lesco spokesman Javid Khan, however, was of the view that the RCC advised the grid stations in a sense to keep the electricity frequency balanced. If from a grid the frequency dropped from 50 Hz, there may be destruction of the whole grid, he added. He said there was no unfair distribution at Lescos end.
