Sports Desk LAHORE Chairman PCB, Ijaz Butts statement has made Shahid Afridis ODI captaincy position against Irelands one-day in doubt. Following the two Test match series against West Indies, Pakistan team on home-coming will play two one-day matches in Ireland. Who will be the captain in this series, the mystery as yet remains unsolved. Whether Shahid Afridi would be leading the team, no categorical decision has come forth thus far. The PCB had earlier issued show cause notice to Shahid Afridi, which he had replied. PCB Chief said that Afridi has certainly informed him of his availability in Ireland on phone and has also talked of leaving for US for enquiring the health of his father, but the PCB Chairman didnt assure Afridi of retaining him as captain instead Ijaz Butt clarified that he has not given any statement relating to the removal of Shahid Afridi from captaincy. Butts statement is likely to put into disarray what looks like a settled limited overs unit. No assurance has been rendered to Shahid Afridi as far as retaining him as skipper for the upcoming ODI tour of Ireland, Butt said. Butt said he clearly told Afridi in their last meeting that owing to the all-rounders disciplinary issues, the PCB was mulling the option of bringing in someone else.
