LAHORE- A young motorcyclist was killed when a sharp kite string cut his throat in Badami Bagh Police Station limits on Sunday.
Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has sought report from the IG Police on the incident. He also ordered strict action against those who violate ban on kite-flying. A case against has been registered against some unidentified people and further investigation is underway.
Hafiz Rashid, 30, resident of Sheikhupura was on his way home on his motorcycle. When he reached near Sabzi Mandi, a sharp string locked round his neck cutting his throat. Rashid received severe injuries and was taken to hospital, but could not survive due to excessive bleeding.
It is worth mentioning here that the officials of Badami Bagh and Ravi Road police stations remained busy establishing the limits of their jurisdiction about the incident. Family members of the deceased staged a protest against the police. Senior police officials suspended Badami Bagh SHO and issued show-cause notice to the DSP concerned. Though, there are clear instructions of the chief minister that if any death was caused due to sharp string in the limits of any police station, a case would be registered against the SHO concerned after suspending him. But, the situation is quite different as no case was registered against the SHO concerned.
