Govt to revive APP


LAHORE: Role of media is vital to the development of country and the government will revive Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) on modern grounds with the aim to further improve its performance and cope with the current challenges of information industry, Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha said.
He was talking to a delegation of APP Employees Union (CBA) Punjab, led by Vice President Aslam Sharif and General Secretary Bashir Ahmad Lashari on Monday.
Mohsin Ranjha said the government is committed to bring peace and prosperity in the country. He said the Pak-China economic corridor is a key to development in Pakistan. He assured the union representatives to get the supplementary grant approved for APP and also the regularisation of the contractual employees very soon.
Employees Union Secretary Information Kashif Hussain, executive committee members Zubair Ahmad and Muhammad Ashraf Bhutta also were present on the occasion.–Staff Reporter

Condolence

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of brother of Nadeem Basra, Vice President Lahore Press Club and a senior journalist. He has also condoled death of mother of Mirza Muhammad Javed, PML-N leader.
In his separate condolence messages, the Chief Minister prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant strength and courage to bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.–Staff Reporter
