Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that Rs250 billion will be allocated in the budget for the next financial year for China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor for its fast-track implementation.

He was speaking at a PML-N Workers Convention after inaugurating a road in Qasimpura area here on Monday. He said the commitment by China for an investment of $46 billion in Pakistan was a big success of the government. He said the CPEC was a plan for the development and prosperity of the two countries.

He said the image of Pakistan across the world had improved under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but there were certain elements who did not want to see development in Pakistan. He categorically assured that the areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan would certainly get development under the Prime Minister and the nefarious designs of the enemies would be foiled.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the Chinese investment was in line with the existing energy policy of the government. He emphasised the need for avoiding past mistakes which did not bring necessary investment to the country.

He said the Indian government was highly perturbed over economic cooperation between Pakistan and China and it was reflected in the criticism being carried out by the Indian media.

He said the government was fighting the menace of terrorism along with the armed forces.

The PML-N central leader Asghar Ali Chaudhry said the purpose of incidents of terrorism is to divide the nation but said the nation is fully united against terrorists.
