ISLAMABAD - Judicial Commission of Pakistan has approved the confirmation of Islamabad High Court Additional Judge Justice Athar Minallah.

A meeting of the commission, under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali was held on Wednesday to consider Justice Minallah’s position on the bench.

Justice Minallah was appointed as an additional judge on the IHC in June 2014 for one year. He was given one year extension in 2015, which would end next month. He has issued over 2,000 judgments in his tenure. The JCP has unanimously approved the confirmation of IHC judge. Now he will remain as high court’s judge for further eight years.

The IHC currently has seven judges. However, the sources shared that the cases of two judges have been sent to the Supreme Judicial Council over allegations of misconduct.
