Outstanding dues recovery scrutinised

KASUR-A meeting was held to review the full recovery of govt outstanding dues at DCO Committee Room here the other day. DCO Muhammad Shahid presided over the meeting.
During the meeting, the recovery of income tax, stamp duty, registration fees and capital value tax was scrutinised. The DCO directed the official concerned to ensure the full recovery of government outstanding dues. He directed the officers to go in the field to achieve the set target and take stern actions against the dues-evaders.
Assistant Commissioner Shahrukh Khan Niazi, Chunian AC Sheikh Saleem Khalid, Pattoki AC Muhammad Nawaz Gondal and Kot Radha Kishan AC Sarmad Timur were also present on the occasion.
Later, the DCO presided over a meeting regarding prevention of water-theft from canals. The DCO directed the officials concerned to establish an effective monitoring system for the prevention of water-theft. He directed the officers to visit the canals on daily basis and take stern actions against those found guilty in water-theft.
Shopkeepers fined, jailed for profiteering: The shopkeepers were fined and some of them sent to jail for fleecing the public during a crackdown conducted in different areas of the district.
According to official sources, Assistant Commissioner Shahrukh Khan Niazi conducted a crackdown on profiteers in different areas of City Kasur and Mustafabad. During the crackdown, the AC registered 26 cases against the shopkeepers and fined them Rs20,000 for fleecing the public while eight shopkeepers were sent to jail on summery trial.
On the occasion, the AC said that the sale of edibles on fixed rates would be ensured. He pledged that stern actins will be taken against the profiteers and no one would be allowed to over charge the public.
