Pakistani delegation leaves for Washington against Kishan Ganga project

ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation of Pakistan left for Washington as a counter strategy against the construction of the controversial Indian Kishan Ganga 330 Mw hydropower project in occupied Kashmir.

The delegation led by Attorney General of Pakistan (AG) Ashtar Ausaf will demand of World Bank (WB) to constitute an international court of Arbitration and will appraise it about reservations for not accepting the appointment of the neutral expert

As per media reports, Indian premier Modi inaugurated Kishan Ganga 330MW power project on Saturday in occupied Kashmir.

As a counter strategy, a high-level delegation of Pakistan left for Washington at the same time.

The delegation comprising Secretary Water and power, Indus water commissioner of Pakistan and director general for South Asia Dr Muhammad Faisal led by AG Ashtar Ausaf will hold meeting with World Bank (WB) within a day or two and will try to convince it that Kishan Ganga Dam is a controversial dam, therefore, WB should constitute the International Court of Arbitration according to treaty.

This delegation will also apprise WB about reservations of Pakistan regarding the appointment of the neutral expert.
