Immediate justice to victims vital

LAHORE Women Racecourse Circle Lady ASP (Under Training) Riffat Haider Bokhari believed that the trust of female victims in police department has increased due to immediate registration of FIRs. She urged various NGOs, public representatives and media practitioners to focus on such crimes by urging female victims to approach Women police station Racecourse, which was the right place of getting immediate justice. Lady ASP expressed these views during her first media interaction with this scribe at her office on Friday. Miss Riffat Bokhari, who had worked as a computer software engineer in different multinational companies before joining PSP cadre, says earlier numerous female victims never visited police station as perhaps they had been treated inhumanely. Now, strict directions have been issued for each staffer to directly refer every victim to me as I personally hear the entire case, said ASP Bokhari, adding staff was always directionless and their commander can mould them according to his/her mindset. To a query about level of public trust in police department, quoting previous record she said earlier only 35 FIRs were lodged in 2010 but now around 94 FIRs have been registered on merit so far. It means, female victims have realised now they would be definitely listened properly and justice would be provided to them without any discrimination, she maintained. '
