PESHAWAR National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under its Awareness and Prevention Regime has set up character building societies in all the universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in order to create hatred among students against corruption. This was stated by DG, Nab, KP, Brig (Retd) Muhammad Musaddiq Abbasi while addressing at an orientation workshop organised by Nab, KP, for the faculty members and students of various public and private sector universities of KP. Director Awareness & Prevention Nab, KP, Col (Retd) Waheedullah Khan also spoke on the occasion. Besides Additional Secretary, Higher Education, KP, Khalid Khan, as many as 150 students along with faculty members from 20 public and private sector universities attended the workshop. DG Nab said the nation had great expectations from the young generation for change and making Pakistan a prosperous and dignified country in the comity of nations. He said this was why Nab, KP, as a first priority established character building societies in collaboration of higher education department at universities level. The process will be taken down to colleges and schools level, he said, adding that anti-corruption committees would be formed at districts, tehsils and union councils level in order to make collective and coordinated efforts for eradication of corruption from the society and ensuring meritocracy, social justice, good governance and transparency. He advised the students that apart from academic excellence they must practice high moral values such as truthfulness, punctuality, promise honouring, honesty and respect for others giving up bad habits of cheating, fraud and revenge etc. He told them that these practices were a key to success in each and every walk of life. He further stressed upon the students to adopt positive attitude in life and instead of cursing others, it should be preferred to contribute in individual capacity. Earlier, the students were divided into various groups for brainstorming and presentations on personality traits for character building. Character building traits on which consensus of every group arrived included self-discipline, truthfulness and honesty, respect for others, punctuality, professionalism and to shun negativism.
