One more falls to dengue

LAHORE The ruthless dengue virus put to sword another patient on Friday, taking the death toll in the City to 361. Besides killing a man, the merciless dengue virus forced dozens of Lahoprites to approach public sector hospitals for preliminary tests, confirming 67 new cases on Friday and as such taking the tally to 33086. Muhammad Siddique (70), a resident of Chungi Amar Sadhu, breathed his last at Lahore General Hospital. Out of 67 new cases, 14 were tested positive at Lahore General Hospital, 13 at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, 06 each at Mayo Hospital and Services Hospital, 04 at Jinnah Hospital and 01 at Institute of Public Health while 23 cases were reported from private healthcare centres in the City. According to the Punjab Health Department, one death has been reported in Lahore due to dengue during the last 24 hours. As many as 27 new cases have been reported from across the province including 08 from Lahore. As such total number of dengue patients in Punjab has reached 21204 including 17407 from Lahore. So far 20872 dengue patients have been cured and discharged from different hospitals in Punjab including 17398 from Lahore. At present 228 patients are under treatment in different hospitals of Punjab including 169 in Lahore. As many as 81 dengue patients have been cured and discharged from teaching and District Headquarters Hospitals of Lahore during the last 24 hours which include 24 from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, 23 from Mayo Hospital, 12 from Jinnah Hospital, 10 from Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital, 07 from Services Hospital and 05 from Lahore General Hospital. Meanwhile, on the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Health Department Punjab has reduced OPD Ticket (Purchee fee) and Emergency Admission Fee and fixed it at Re 01 in all the teaching, DHQ, THQ hospitals, Rural Health Centers and Basic Health Units. However, no fee will be charged from dengue fever patients. In this connection, Health Department has issued notification and conveyed the instructions to all the Principals of Medical Colleges, Medical Superintendents of Teaching, DHQ as well as THQ hospitals and incharge Doctors of Rural Health Centers and Basic Health Units in Punjab. Meanwhile, the Punjab Health Department claimed on Friday that it has cured 81 dengue patients and discharged them from teaching and District Headquarters Hospitals of Lahore during the last 24 hours.23 patients were discharged from Mayo Hospital, seven from Services Hospital, 12 from Jinnah Hospital, 24 from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, 10 from Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital and five patient discharged from Lahore General Hospital. According to the report, so far 20, 872 dengue patients have been cured and discharged from different hospitals in Punjab out of them, 17398 patients belonged to Lahore. According to the report issued by Health Department, only 27 confirmed dengue patients have been reported from through out the Punjab out of them, 08 patients reported in Lahore.
