OUR STAFF REPORTER ISLAMABAD - International Productivity Congress 2011 concluded on Thursday with a commitment by National Productivity Organization and Asian Productivity Organization to carry mission of productivity enhancement at various economic arenas in a bid to deliver productivity related measures for Pakistani economy. Dr Ishrat Hussain, former Governor State Bank Pakistan, was the chief guest of second day of IPC. He said that change management is not easy. But we also know that Pakistan is an example of great resourceful people, he said. The only area where Pakistan lacks is at processes that define fully articulated formulation of plan. He stressed on building processes that have the tendency to disseminate information. Dr Ishrat Hussain appreciated the spirit of CEO-NPO Khawaja Muhammad Yousuf and hoped that NPO will continue to draw attention like IPC 2011 in times to come. Speaking on the occasion, CEO-NPO Khawaja Muhammad Yousuf said I feel that NPO is moving in right direction and by looking at the interest of various dignitaries who are part of the session is reflection that a lot is expected from NPO. He informed the audience that it is a matter of pride for all of us that Pakistan has improved five points ahead in global productivity ranking. Joint Secretary, Ministry of Industries, Shaista Sohail said, Currently, we are going through a time of uncertainty and low confidence. It is the task of government to use every tool at its disposal to build confidence and strengthen the economy against global threats. We understand that reforms for industrial development through policy and planning are the need of time. And this is where NPO becomes more important since it has been mandated to address and fill gaps of industrial zone. On this occasion, World Confederation for Productivity Sciences (WCPS) awards were given to five individuals on their valuable contribution to industrial productivity enhancement projects. Five people who were awarded with the awards were Saqib Moin-ud-Din, Dr Fakir Muhammad, Nauman Wazir and Khawaja Mohammad Yousuf. Among other dignitaries included Chief Technical Advisor TRTA-II (UNIDO), Councilor & Consultant Bilal Qutb and Vice Chairman, House of Habib Sohail P Ahmed.
