OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Punjab Industrial Estate and Development & Management Company (PIEDMC) has claimed to generate own coal based electricity at Sunder Industrial Estate from October 31, 2012. Speaking with media, Punjab Industrial Estates and Development & Management Company Chairman SM Tanveer said that a separate power house with capacity of 50 megawatts would be established within nine months after awarding contract. This industrial estate is working under purview of PIEDMC. The power house, at Sundar industrial estate will be starting trial production from August 31, 2012 in line with vision of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to make Punjab an industrial hub, he said, adding that this power generating project would prove to be a milestone in the history of the province. PIEDMC has received proposals of five international companies who have desired to complete this power plant on build and operate basis as investor, SM Tanveer told a questioner. According to schedule, the deadline to start boilers and engines of both the plant has been set August 31, 2012. SM Tanveer also said that all formalities have been completed including following of PEPRA rules in order to maintain transparency for the project. He said that consultants of international repute would be selected and for now four have applied for technical and financial consultancy.
