LARKANA - Sindh Chief Minister’s Advisor on Relief, Haleem Adil Sheikh has said that at least 31,000 houses were damaged in 121 union councils during the rains and flood disaster in the province this year.
Talking to reporters during a visit to the flood and rains affected areas of Larkana, along with the Iranian Consulate General to Pakistan on Sunday, Sheikh said that about 20 million people, were severally affected, in the rains and flood in the province.
He stated that NDMA distributed Rs0.3 and 71 billion food and non-food items among the rains and flood affectees, across the province. Latter, Iranian diplomat Abbas Ali Abdul-Ahi and the Advisor visited Garhi Khuda Bakhsh and laid floral wreaths on the graves of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, Mir Murtaza Bhutto, Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto and others, and offered Fateha.
Meanwhile, Shia Ulema Council demanded the government for full proof security arrangements during the Muharram in the district.
In a press conference, the SUC demanded the district government and Municipal to ensure cleanliness and street lights arrangements for the Muharram activities. The council also demanded the district administration to provide security for the mourners Majalis and impose ban on Indian TV channels and English movies during Muharram.
Meanwhile, Army Selection and Recruitment Centre Officer Incharge Major Muhammad Tariq announced that a team of army officers will visit Shikarpur, Jacobabad, and Kashmore-Kandhkot districts from November 19 to 29 for the recruitment of youths as soldiers. According to schedule, the team will visit Municipal Committee Shikarpur on November 19 and 20, Municipal Committee Jacobaabad on November 21 and 22, Municipal Committee Kandhkot on November 26 and 27 and Municipal Committee Office Kashmore November 28 and 29.
