ISLAMABAD - Islamabad police on Sunday revealed that they have nabbed 829 drug pushers and liquor sellers as well as 738 criminals for having illegal weapons, besides recovering huge cache of contraband, liquor and weapons from their possession.

According to a press note issued from office of senior Superintendent Islamabad Police on Sunday, Islamabad police arrested 736 accused during current year 2012 and registered 721 cases against them. The press note which was issued to reporters on Sunday further revealed that police teams recovered 602 pistols, 45 guns, 9 carbines, 25 rifles, 17 Kalashnikovs and 6624 rounds from the accused. Likewise, Islamabad arrested 829 accused including drug pushers and recovered 58.398 kg heroin, 311.182 kg hashish, 31.736 kg opium, 15,550 wine bottles from them during the current year.

“The IGP Bani Amin Khan has said that Islamabad Police are a committed force which are delivering through best of their capabilities. He said that performance of the force is quite satisfactory against criminal elements and such efforts would remain continue in future to curb crime,” a spokesperson of Islamabad said on Sunday.

Islamabad Police had always performed diligently and performance of the capital police can be gauged from the fact that number of arrests and detection of crime in the capital is more than any other district police across the country, press note stated.

SSP Islamabad has directed for intensifying checking at the entry as well as exit points of the city so that drug peddling should be curbed.
