Khyber Pakthunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said Monday that former Ameer of Jumaat-e-Islami (JI), Qazi Hussain Ahmed is safe in the suicide attack on his caravan in Tehsil Haleemzai in Mohmand Agency while only four persons sustained critical wounds.
Speaking in the Khyber Pakthunkhwa Assembly, the Minister said the condition of two injured are stated to be critical and were shifted to Peshawar for treatment.
He strongly condemned the suicide attack on the caravan of Qazi Hussain Ahmed in Mohmand Agency, the Information Minister said the attacker was a woman tried to target the caravan of JI former Ameer.
He regretted that the terrorists have started using women to carry out suicide attacks for accomplishment of their nefarious designs. The Minister said time has come that women should come forward and play active role by supporting government's endeavours to foil the nefarious designs of terrorists and enemy of peace.
He said Qazi Hussain Ahmed is the national leader of the country and attack on his caravan was highly condemnable act.
Earlier, Senior Minister and ANP parliamentary leader, Bashir Ahmed Bilour also condemned the attack and prayed for early recovery of the injured.
He said attack on Qazi Hussain Ahmed is highly deplorable act. He said terrorists through such cowardice acts could not deter our determination in the fight against militancy and terrorism.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf condemned the terrorist attack on Qazi Hussain Ahmad.
The Prime Minister telephoned Qazi Hussain Ahmad to inquire about the incident. He extended best wishes for his health and welfare. He said he was concerned when he learnt about the attack and said he was relieved to know that he was safe and sound.
President Asif Ali Zardari Monday strongly condemned the attack on the caravan of former Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad.
In his message, the President expressed sympathies with the injured and directed the officials concerned to provide best medical assistance to the injured.
Conveying his best wishes, the President expressed satisfaction that Qazi Hussain Ahmed was safe and remained unhurt.
