LAHORE  - A cop was killed and another wounded seriously when two bandits fired shots at a police post in Shadbagh on Monday. A schoolgirl also sustained injuries.

Investigators said two armed motorcyclists opened fire as the cops flagged down their bike near Dispensary Chowk.

The deceased was identified as Asif Dogar, 38, while the injured were Ata Mustafa, and Mahak Bibi.

Officials said that the father-of-three, Dogar, had been declared a martyr by the police department. Earlier, two brothers of the deceased, also police officials, also embraced martyrdom


A 24-year-old man was killed when a tractor-trolley bumped into his motorcycle at the Bund Road on Monday. Police and rescue workers said that the motorcyclist, yet to be identified, died on the spot. The tractor driver managed to escape from the crime scene. The police have impounded the tractor-trolley and are investigating.

Separately, a man was killed and two others were seriously injured on Monday when a train hit them at Chaklala Railway Station.

The deceased was identified as Shakoor, 36, while Tariq, 50, and Zeeshan, 4, were injured in the sadistic incident. Rescue 1122 first provided the two victims aid on the spot and later shifted them to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH).

According to information provided by police and Rescue 1122, the three persons were crossing railway track at Chaklala Railway Station when a train hit them. As a result, a man died on the spot while two others got injured.
