LAHORE : PIA post-Haj operation has concluded on Monday bringing back more than 67,000 Hajjis from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan maintaining an overall flight punctuality of above 90 percent. PIA carried 8,198 Hajjis to Karachi, 9,660 Hajjis to Lahore, 14,537 Hajjis to Islamabad, 15,417 to Peshawar 9,754 Hajjis to Quetta, 6,008 to Multan and 3,527 Hajjis to Sialkot, spokesman of the airline said here.  He said this year PIA successfully conducted its Haj operation which has been appreciated by Pakistani as well as Saudi Civil Aviation Authorities for on time departures and arrivals.

PIA Chairman Muhammad Ali Gardezi and Managing Director Muhammad Junaid Yunus congratulated PIA employees for the successful completion of Haj operation which was entirely managed and operated by PIA’s own fleet.

Junaid Yunus, while congratulating the employees of the airline, said that the entire PIA team has fulfilled the duty in providing maximum facilitation to Hajjis in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and with on time departures and arrivals of Haj flights; as directed by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He congratulated the employees of Flight Operations, Engineering, Passenger Handling Services, PIA Scouts, Marketing and especially PIA teams stationed at Jeddah for their sincere efforts in accomplishing successful Hajj Operation. He also appreciated efforts of PIA’s Public Relations Division role of media for disseminating accurate information to general public. 

Junaid Yunus said that it proves that PIA has the potential to achieve any target assigned to it. The employees should work with the same zeal and enthusiasm in achieving higher revenues and profitability for the airline, he said. We have added additional frequencies on profitable routes like Kualalampur and Katmandu and soon after the induction on new aircraft in PIA fleet new destinations will be added to network, he added.

This year PIA made special arrangements by establishing a facilitation desk for the information and assistance to its Passengers at Pakistan and Jeddah Haj Terminals including PIA offices in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The overall Punctuality of the airline’s Haj operation remained above 90 percent. Pre-Haj operation began on 9th September and concluded on 9th October 2013 while post-Haj operation commenced from 19th October and concluded on 18th November 2013.
