LAHORE - An election tribunal on Monday ordered verification of thumb impressions on votes polled in NA-118 Lahore.
The tribunal ordered the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), returning officer concerned and Provincial Election Commission to complete the process in one month and submit the report by December 19. The tribunal comprising Judge Kazim Ali Malik passed the orders on an election petition filed by Hamid Zaman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who lost 2013 general election to Malik Riaz of  PML-N in NA-118.
Earlier, the petitioner's counsel alleged that the rigging was committed and requested that the votes be verified through thumb impression.  The respondent's counsel denied the charges and pleaded the tribunal to dismiss the petition. After hearing arguments from both sides, the tribunal ordered for thumb impression verification and also sought a report by December 19.
