Islamabad - A division bench (DB) of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday asked SSP Islamabad, SHO Kohsar police station and National Accountability Bureau officials to appear before the court in a petition seeking recovery of a man allegedly kidnapped by an investigation officer (IO) of NAB.

The IHC dual bench comprising Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah issued these directions in a petition filed by Nabeela Tahir who alleged before the court that an official of NAB had kidnapped her husband from Jinnah Super market Islamabad.

The DB further directed NAB officials to also produce husband of the petitioner, namely Tahir Mehmood Abbasi, on November 20, the next date of hearing in this matter.

Nabeela’s husband is a local businessman and she has been seeking from the IHC to initiate legal action against the NAB IO Mohammad Tariq who allegedly kidnapped her husband.

She maintained in the writ petition that she along with her husband and daughter was at Jinnah Super Market for shopping on November 11, 2014. Nabeela added that a Toyota van carrying some 12 unknown persons forcibly stopped their car and abducted her husband without identifying themselves after they were returning back home from the market.

She continued when the petitioner and her daughter tried to stop the persons, they also manhandled both of them. Then, the petitioner lodged an FIR against the alleged abductors with Kohsar police station.

Nabeela informed the court that two days later on November 13, IO Tariq telephoned Tahir’s brother-in-law and informed him that NAB authorities in Lahore had arrested him for investigation in a fraud case.

She prayed to the court to declare detention of her husband as illegal and also requested the court to direct the Kohsar police to initiate action against NAB’s IO Tariq for kidnapping her husband.
