KARACHI: In order to probe malfunctioning and corruption, Anti Corruption (South) team raided National Institute of Child Health (NICH) on the directives of Sindh High Court (SHC), on Thursday.

However, the Anti corruption team (south) team along with contingent of policemen squeezed its paw on NICH, as there were the complaints of corruption and defalcation of heavy amount under the nose of concerned high-ups of the hospital whereas, anti corruption team sealed the first floor of the hospital comprising Administration office, finance office and Director’s office. The sealed area of the hospital was released after 3-hour-raid.

Furthermore, in order to get the detailed information, Anti corruption team also seized many important documents from various departments of the hospital

According to official of NICH, who told The Nation on the condition of anonymity that, “NICH is deeply plunged into the quagmire of corruption, it must be raided many time earlier. Director NICH–Jamal Raza was interrogated in depth but as he got the chance, he got escaped from the spot”

Moreover, Deputy Director–Anti Corruption (South) Team, Tariq Qureshi, told that it was pre-planned raid as many complaints of misappropriations were received from various sources

“on behalf of SHC’s directives and complaints from various credible sources we have detained some important documents from various departments to investigate the corruption in depth whereas, the hospital’s staff cooperated a lot with our team”

On the other end, Dr. Jamal Raza, while talking to the Nation said that it was not a particular raid, and we have tried to cooperate with the Anti Corruption in all possible way

“You can not name it a ‘raid’ it was a routine work, on the orders of court.” Adding that “NICH provided every most wanted document to the team” whereas, justifying himself on a query raised by scribe Jamal said “I did not escaped from the spot, I  procured full cooperation to them and provided each and every single document on their demand, after their satisfaction I left with their permission”
