SIALKOT-Speakers during a ceremony paid rich tributes to Allama Iqbal, saying that he was a visionary poet who conceived of the separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent.
It was ultimately materialised in the shape of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, they said while addressing the participants of the Iqbal Day special celebration ceremony held at the auditorium of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) under the auspices of AIOU.
They revealed that the teachings of Allama Iqbal were beacon for maintaining tolerance, peace and stability in the society.
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Vice Chancellor Shahid Saddiqi paid homage to Allama Iqbal. He asked the youth to strive for self realisation and emphasized austerity envisioned by Allama Iqbal. He stressed the need to follow teachings of Allama Iqbal to retrieve the country from various challenges.
AIOU organised the Kalam-e-Iqbal and speech contests there to pay homage to Allama Iqbal. The students of different schools and colleges participated in the competition. The VC revealed that Allama Iqbal highlighted the sense of unity in Muslim Ummah and raised voice in the favour of economic justice.
As many as 23 junior foreign diplomats from European, Latin American, African, Central and South Asian countries will visit Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on coming Monday.
SCCI President Zahid Latif Malik told newsmen that the foreign diplomats would discuss the matters of mutual interest during a meeting scheduled to be held at SCCI. SCCI Vice President Abid Ahmed Khawaja added that the junior foreign diplomats will also visit several leading industrial units in Sialkot.
