LAHORE - The Intellectual Property Tribunal Saturday stayed the exhibition of ‘Maula Jatt-2’ with directives to Central Film Board and other respondents to come up with arguments.
The tribunal passed the order on a suit moved by ‘Maula Jatt’ producer Sarwat Bhatti in Punjabi. The petitioner challenged exhibition of ‘Maula Jatt-2’ produced by Lashari saying that their copyrights were violated.
Advocate Ahsan Masood represented Sarwat Bhatti saying that Bilal Lashari had violated the copyright by using title, script, character, dialogue, cinematographic work while censorship certificate was also issued to him by the censor board.
Advocate Khurram Chughtai represented Bilal Lashari opposing the petition that they did not violate the petitioners’ rights. He argued that Lashari had the copyrights in script of film. He said Bilal Lashari and others had already moved an application to seek registration of trademark in the name of the film while Bhatti, according to his own certificate, had no right to title, brand and work.
After hearing both sides, the tribunal barred exhibition of “Maula Jatt-2” and directed the respondents to come up with arguments. The tribunal adjourned further hearing until Nov 22.
