Past govts ignored southern Punjab: CM

LAHORE   -  Lawmakers and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) representatives from Multan called on Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at Circuit House, Multan on Sunday.

According to an official handout, Sardar Usman Buzdar said that all of his members were not less than any chief minister for him and he will continue meeting with them. He said that development projects worth billions of rupees have been announced for Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa and Barthi. Likewise, mega development projects for Multan will be announced soon. He said that he will have a detailed visit to Multan shortly. Furthermore, he said, previous governments ignored southern Punjab, including Multan. Had the region got attention in the past, he said, it wouldn’t have been deprivation of anything. He said the PTI government had spun the resources towards backward areas. “The PTI has bagged votes in the name of change and change is inevitable,” he added. He said that nominating MPA of a backward Tehsil as chief minister of Punjab is proof of change.

Talking to the chief minister, members of the National and Provincial Assembly said the development package for Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa and Barthi was historic. They said, “South Punjab will be a developed area of Punjab during your period and you are well aware of issues of people. In contrast to the past, practical steps are being taken to resolve problems of people. Ideas were exchanged for development of South Punjab, especially people of Multan, at the meeting.

Moreover, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the demise of ameer of Tableeghi Jamaat and renowned religious scholar Haji Abdul Wahab. In his condolence message, the chief minister prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and patience for his family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude. He paid tribute to the selfless service of Haji Abdul Wahab for promotion of Islam and said the late scholar had dedicated his life to preaching and his noble services for religion will always be remembered.

Later, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar visited injured travellers and families of deceased at Circuit House, Multan. These were the affectees of Ghazi Ghat traffic accident that took place near Dera Ghazi Khan. At Multan Circuit House, the chief minister visited each and every individual one by one and extended his sympathies. Moreover, he provided financial assistance of Rs500,000 each to families of deceased and Rs75,000 to every individual who got injured. He offered his condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones and offered Fateha for the departed souls.

Speaking on this occasion, the chief minister said that he is deeply sadden over this tragic incident that has cost various precious lives and the Punjab government is standing in solidarity with the lamenting families in this hour of anguish, he said.

Financial assistance is surely not the compensation for this huge loss as this pain could be felt only by those who have lost their loved ones. Members of national and provincial assembly from Multan, Leaders of Tehreek-e-Insaf Multan, Commissioner of Multan Division, RPO Multan, Deputy Commissioner Multan and other officials were also present on this occasion.
