LAHORE - Mujtaba Ali Khan of USA and Amir Asylkozhaev of Russia reached the ITF Pakistan ITA-Midcourt International Junior Tennis Championships boys singles final.
At PTF Tennis Complex on Thursday, in the boys singles semifinals, USA’s Mujtaba routed Abhishek Thorat 6-3, 6-2 while Russia’s Amir Asylkozhaev beat Nepal’s Aarav Samrat Hada 6-4, 6-0. In the boys doubles semis, Hada/Aki Zuben beat Mujtaba/Ferdi Tangal 3-6, 6-3(10-7) and Asylkozhaev/Dmitry Bessonov beat Kanbargimath/Abhishek 7-6(5), 6-4.
Meanwhile, only hope of Pakistan Natalia Zaman lost the girls singles semifinal against Nepal’s Abhilasha Bista witth a score of 6-7(3), 6-1, 6-0. In the second semifinal, USA’s Goetz Taylor thrashed Daria Stefania Malaescu of Romania 6-1, 6-0. In girls doubles semifinals, Abhilasha Bista/Taylor Goetz beat Sai Harshitaa Adivi/Zahra Suleman 6-0, 6-1 and Sorochkina/Ekaterina beat Malaescu/Sharvani Shreshta 2-6, 6-4(10-8).
The boys and girls doubles finals will be played today (Friday). Tahir Mushtaq, Chief Human Resource PTV, visited the PTF Complex and interacted with the players and also had a photo session with the participants. He also saw the arrangements of the tournament and lauded the PTF infrastructure for organizing the tournament in a befitting manner.
