ISLAMABAD Top seed Aqeel Khan claimed the title of Subh-e-Nau National Clay Court Championship 2009 by beating his younger brother Jalil Khan in a straight 2-0 set here at PTF Tennis Complex. Aqeel thrashed his younger brother Jalil Khan 6-4 and 6-4. Aqeel was too good for his brother in the final, as he played excellent stokes to clinch the second consecutive title this month. Aqeel also defeated Jalil in the final of National Hard Court Tennis Championship last week at PSB courts. Heera Ashiq was crowned the title of Boys Juniors Under-17 after he beating Samir Iftikhar in a crucial match. Heera won first set 7-6; however he was down 6-7 against Samirs aggressive game in second set. He maintained his winning spree in last set and won the set 6-2 to lift the title. Meanwhile, in the Boys Juniors Under-13, Kashan-ul-Haq was the title winner after he beat Saad Zafar 2-1. Saad Zafar won the first set by 4-2, however seeded one in national Under-13 ranking, Kashan-ul-Haq played very well in the remaining two sets. He won the final with the score-line of 2-4, 4-0 and 4-2. At the end, the chief guest, Chairman CDA Imtiaz Inayat Elahi distributed the prizes among the players. President Pakistan Tennis Federation Senator Dilawar Abbas and Chairperson Subh-e-Nau Shahida Kauser Farooq were also present at this occasion. Speaking on this occasion, Chairman CDA said it was a good step to bring young people towards sports. He said CDA was very committed to involve youth in sports activities. Shahida Kauser Farooq thanked the chief guest and Senator Dilawar Abbas for their kind support to conduct this event.
