KARACHI - Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) has decided to observe 'Black Day in all the colleges of the metropolis from October 19 to 27, to gain the attention of the government towards the problems of the college teachers and educational institutions. Sindh Education Department is paying surprise visits to different colleges instead of removing the shortage of teachers from the college despite the fact that classes of first year have already been started, said a joint statement of SPLA leaders. Prof Ather Hussain Mirza, Prof Muzaffar Ali Rizvi, Prof Shafqat Jokhio, Prof Ghazanfar Shah, Prof Yaqoob Chandio, Prof Iftikhar Azmi, Prof Himmat Ali and Prof Muhsin Raza, Prof Manzoor and Prof Ayub Mari also spoke on the matter. They said that educational institutions had become political castles, while the education department was only concentrating on the attendance of the teachers merely to blackmail the teachers community. Director General Sindh Colleges has shut his eyes even from the problems of the college. They appealed to the Sindh governor to play his due role to save education in the province.
