At least 17 persons including three women and a minor were killed and more than 48 injured in different incidents occurred in various areas over the past 48 hours.
According to details, in Hafizabad as many as seven persons including three women and a minor child were killed while more than 45 persons including 10 women and children were injured in different incidents including firing by policemen over the past 48 hours.
According to police source, Sub-Inspector Akhtar Ali, ASI Muhammad Aslam and two constables of the Alipur Chattha Police along with some civilian allegedly intruded into the house of Riasat Ali in village Dera Bhagat (Kot Peer Muhammad) to arrest a suspect but on resistance put up by Riasat Ali and other family members, the police party opened firing as a result of which Riasat Ali’s son Jamshaid Ahmad died on the spot. The villagers protested against the highhandedness of the police and demanded the arrest of the accused policemen.
However, the Vanike Tarar Police have registered a case against four policemen and eight others.
According to rescue sources, Muhammad Aqib of Jalalpur Bhattian was killed on the spot while his friends - Bilal, Usman and Faisal were seriously injured when their car swerved off the road and struck against a roadside tree near Kolo Tarar Morr on Pindi Bhattian Road, about 15-km from here on Eid day. The injured were removed to hospital.
According to same source, three persons including a young man Qaiser (25), Mehwish (18) and Ans (10), riding a bike, were killed on the spot by an army truck near Shah Jamal on Gujranwala Road about 15-km here on Thursday. The deceased were on the way to a nearby village to distribute sacrificial meat to their relations when the mishap took place. The dead bodies were shifted to hospital.
Another young housewife Fareeda w/o Cukoo in Mohallah Chirri Maran was died due to serious burns caused by fire which engulfed her clothes while cooking in her house on Wednesday night. She was removed to the hospital but died due to serious burns.
A married woman Suriya in village Chak Bhatti was throttled to death by her real brother due to her dubious character on Friday. The accused Mushtaq of village Jurian had suspected the character of his sister and today he visited Chak Bhatti on the pretext of meeting his sister and allegedly strangled to death and managed his good escape. The Jalalpur Bhattian police have registered a case and are investigating. According to hospital sources, more than 40 men, women and children were admitted in the DHQ hospital during the past 48 hours due to injuries caused to them by roadside mishaps and one wheeling. Similarly in Sargodha, two motorcyclists lost their lives in a mishap while doing wheelies on the 2nd day of Eid. According to details, dozen of youngsters planned to visit Khewra Salt Mine on second day of Eidul Azha on motorcycles. After returning from the trip all the motorcyclists started racing and doing stunts. When they reached near Raja Wala on Bhera-Malakwal-Road, two rashly driven motorcycles ghastly collided with each other. Resultantly two youngsters namely Usman, son of Malik Anwar and Sohaib, son of Liaqat, residents of Block-15 city Sargodha died on the spot.
In another incident two motorcyclists identified as Muhammad Saddique and Ahmed were killed when their motorcycles collided with each other while wheelies near Gill Wala in the remit of Urban Area Police.
They sustained critical wounds and were rushed to hospital but copuld not survive. In other mishap which happed near Muazamabad on Sargodha-Kotmoman Road, a speeding truck hit a motorbike. Resultantly two riders expired on the spot while the truck driver managed to escape from the scene.
Similarly in Burewala an unidentified old man was found dead on Chichawatni Road near Chak 427/EB here on Friday.
According to police, an identified elderly man, appeared to be about 80 years old, man was living in the area without and nobody had any knowledge about his whereabouts. The other night he was found dead near the boundary wall of under construction sub-campus of Agriculture University on Chichawatni Road. The police after completing necessary formalities buried his dead body in the graveyard beside the campus wall.
In Sialkot, a local butcher Bashir Hussain (46) died of heart attack while slaughtering a sacrificial animal at a house in Sambrial City’s Muhallah Daarul Salam locality here on Eid Day.
In Minchinabad, two persons were killed and three others injured in an accident on Head-Sulamanki Road the other day.
As per details, a THQ Hospital employee and his minor son were killed and three other members of his family sustained critically injuries when a carry van collided with a tractor-trolley near a village Acha Riki in the remit of Minchinabad Police.
The accident occurred when 35-year-old Shafiq Wattoo, his 12-year-old son Ali, a sister, mother and a relative identified as Advocate Nasir Karim, residents of Minchinabad, were on the way to Hasil Sarho in a carry van. When they reached near Acha Rikir village, the carry van overturned after colliding with a tractor-trolley parked on the road. As a result, Shafiq Wattoo and his son Ali died on the spot while the others sustained critical injuries.
The victims were rushed to THQ Hospital from where they were referred to DHQ Hospital Bahawalnagar in a critical condition.
