Access to medical facilities, in particular vaccinations for the young is a basic fundamental right provided by the constitution, judicial precedent, legislation and all other fathomable legal injunctions. With its stringent polio campaigns in both rural and urban areas, Pakistan had almost gained control over the crippling disease but because of the Taliban and their remorseless policies against the polio vaccine, it has revived again. Such ideologies of the extremists are not backed by Islam or any other conceivably sane institution, religious or democratic, in any part of the world. These beliefs only support the notion of creating an unhealthy, disease-ridden generation, because after all, it is our children on whose shoulders, the future of Pakistan rests. Who should we hold responsible for such negligence?
