SADIQABAD - At least 27 candidates are likely to contest for the 10 reserved seats of the Tehsil Municipal Corporation in the second phase of local bodies elections.

Returning Officer told the media that 10 female candidates including Ghulam Fatima, Oshka Akram, Naseem Akhtar, Afra Saleem, Saima Sadaf, Nazeera Parveen, Alia Saboor, Hajira Ghazanfar, and Maryam Qayyum are contesting for five seats reserved for the woman in Sadiqabad Municipal Corporation.

Similarly, six candidates - Haider Ali, Shahid Imtiaz, Anees, Ashfaq, Abdul Saboor and Aslam are contesting for two slots of the labour councillor. Four candidates including Yahya, Umar, Waqas Shafique and Hassan Iqbal are contesting for one seat of the youth councillor. In the same way, seven candidates - Muhind Raji, Thakur Das, Mumtaz Maseeh, Shari Gordhan Das, Poran Ji, Akram Maseeh and Rashid Maseeh are contesting for two seat of minority councillor in the municipal committee.

UP IN PML-N

Grouping cropped up in the PML-N MNA and MPA groups to get their candidates elected at 10 slots of Sadiqabad Municipal Committee in the second phase of local bodies’ elections. Despite the PML-N has majority in tehsil municipal committee by clinching 39 out of 44 seats, the differences between MNA Sardar Arshad Khan Leghari and MPA Ch Muhammad Shafique forced the N-candidates to contest against each other for slots of labour, youth etc.
