GUJRANWALA- Three allegedly terrorists were killed in a shootout with the Counter-Terrorism Department while two others succeeded in fleeing the scene here.

According to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) sources, the department got a tip-off about the presence of terrorists. At which a CTD team conducted a raid in Aroop but came across intense firing by the terrorists as the lawmen reached the hideout. The CTD personnel retaliated with fire and a shootout ensued that lasted for quite some time. Resultantly three terrorists were killed and two other succeeded in fleeing the scene. The CTD officials recovered two Kalashnikovs, two pistols and a large number of bullets from the scene. According to sources, the terrorists group was planning attack on important installation and public places in Gujranwala.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the dead terrorists belonged to a banned outfit and were planning to carry out attacks on sensitive installation in the city.

The dead bodies of the terrorists were shifted to DHQ Hospital for autopsy and other legal formalities.
