KARACHI - Unidentified bandits robbed a bank situated in Karachi’s old city area on Tuesday. SHO Eidgah Naeemuddin said at least six armed bandits barged into a local branch and held the bank’s guard and staffers hostage.

The dacoits snatched the weapons from a guard while another security guard was wounded when offered resistance. “The robbers held the cashier hostage at gunpoint and made away with Rs500, 000 within five minutes,” SHO Naeemuddin said.

Police officials, including personnel of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), also claimed to have gathered evidences from scene of the crime.

The SHO added that the police had acquired the CCTV footage of the incident and had called in forensic experts to develop sketches of those involved in the heist. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
