LAHORE - Punjab Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera yesterday ordered the district police officers to ensure their visits to the inter-provincial borders and Riverine checkposts regularly.

The police chief said that the DPOs must visit the border posts one in a month while sub-divisional police officers should pay visits to the sites at least once in a week. The field officers were also directed to send back their reports to the regional police officers regularly.

He advised field officers to keep themselves emotionally attached to their force and take utmost possible steps for their welfare so that they should work with more sincerity, dedication, and commitment.

The provincial police officer stated this while chairing a video-link conference held at Central Police Office yesterday. IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera also said that the officials deployed on the Riverine and inter-provincial border checkposts should remain on their toes. Similarly, their vehicles and motorbikes should not be used for any other purpose. Any vehicles or motorbikes deputed for other official duties should instantly be sent back to these checkposts.

Senior police officers Capt. (Retired) Arif Nawaz, Amjad Javed Saleemi, Dr. Arif Mushtaq, Shahid Hanif, Azhar Hameed Khokhar, Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, and Ishaq Jehangir were also present in the meeting.

The IGP directed that all the RPOs and DPOs should complete ACRs of policemen and send back the reports to central police office within a week to precede promotion cases faster. He further directed to arrange Promotion Board Meetings at earliest to promote officials waiting for promotion at range level.

He said that cases for promotion of DSPs to the rank of SPs should be sent to CPO from all ranges without any delay. Orders of transfers and promotions of Police officials should be updated in Human Resource Management System immediately so that information regarding deployment of officials should be up-to-date in system. Officials assigned to these duties should not be transferred frequently and should have a specific period of service on same duty, he added.

Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera appreciated the performance of all RPOs and DPOs for excellent security arrangements during Muharram and Ashura. Police force deserves admiration for providing best security to the mourners during Muharram. He also said that despite threats of terror attacks during Muharram, the provincial police fulfilled its duties with great valor and dedication and proved that it has the ability to overcome any challenge.
