CHITRAL - The second founding anniversary of Khowar Ahle Qalam (KAQ), a literary organisation working for the promotion of local Khowar language of Chitral, was held here at the other day.

Dr Badshah Munir Bukhari, director Urdu Department, Peshawar University, presided over the anniversary where tehsil nazim Maulana Ilyas was the chief guest.

Addressing the ceremony, Iqraruddin Khusro said that the KAQ is a literary organisation which encourages the writers and poets, especially the women of Khowar language. On the occasion, Dr Bukhari stressed a need for establishing a university in Chitral where 7,000 graduates desire to complete their master degrees. Maulana Ilyas lauded the efforts being made by the KAQ and announced Rs20,000 donation for the organisation.

Later, the chief guest cut a cake of the second founding anniversary of the KAQ and presented awards to writers, poets, poetess, and columnists of Chitral.
