Aitchison College Open National Tennis gets underway

LAHORE - The qualifying round matches were played in the Aitchison College Open National Tennis Championship 2021 here at Aitchison College premises Monday. 

The event is being played in different age group categories including boys U-18 singles and doubles, girls U-18 singles and doubles, boys U-16 singles, boys U-14 singles and doubles, girls U-14 singles, boys U-12 singles, girls U-12 singles, boys/girls U-12 doubles, boys/girls U-10 singles and seniors 40 plus doubles. 

Tournament Director Rashid Malik, who is also Secretary PLTA, said that for the development and encouragement of junior players, this event is being organized. “Our purpose of conducting maximum number of junior events is to promote the game at grassroots level and find fresh talent, groom and train them and provide the Pakistan Tennis Federation that talent to represent the country in international events. 

“I am also grateful to Principal Aitchison College Mr. Michael Thomas for sponsoring this event and I hope that he will continue to play key role in further promoting the game in the country,” he added. Principal Aitchison College Mr. Michael Thomas along with PLTA Secretary Rashid Malik will inaugurate the event during the opening ceremony today at 4:00 pm.

Meanwhile, in boys U-18 qualifying round, Yahya Ahtesham beat Kashan Tariq 6-3, Ahmad Nawaz beat Muneeb Majeed 6-2, Husnain Younas beat Syed Abdullah 6-1, Ghazi Ahmad beat Rehmat Ali 6-0, Rayan Munsif beat Husnain Ali 6-2, Arman Kamran beat Mustafa Hamid 6-2. In boys U-16 qualifying round, Ayan Amjad beat Ahmad Masood 6-2, Ali Arif Khawaja beat Raja Mustafa 6-1 and Rehmat Ali beat azlan Faisal 6-3. 

In boys U-14 qualifying round, Abdullah Yousaf beat M Ayan Omer 6-0, Harris Bajwa beat Hassan Asad 6-2, Abdullah Sajjad beat Talha Salman 6-0, Ayan Amjad beat Ibrahim Munj 6-0, Ibrahim Zaman beat Inam Bari 6-1, Mustafa beat Hamza 6-1, Asfandyar Azhar beat Momin Siddiq 6-2. In boys U-12 qualifying round, Ibrahim Hassan beat Syed Rohail Shah 6-2, Momin Siddiq beat Aayan Zahid 6-2, Abdullah Mubeen beat Hamza Rehan 6-2.
