Save Karachi

Insatiable greed of the land mafia has slowly but surely transformed the once beautiful city of Karachi into a concrete jungle. It is expected of President Zardari, a Karachite, to intervene and stop further ruining of this city's fragile eco system. 55 acres of real estate, earmarked for a public park, popularly known as Kidney Hill, is being gobbled up by robber barons under the guise of making an Overseas Housing Society. This land belongs to the residents of Karachi, a city that has offered refuge and a place with free opportunity to millions. -RAHAT SIDDIQI, Karachi, via e-mail, September 1
